Who we are
GSSLA Portal is provided by G. Shabbir Shah Law Associates, Bungalow No. F/18-B, Old Clifton, near Mohatta Palace, Karachi-75600, Pakistan ("the firm", "we"). The firm is responsible for the information described here. Questions or requests: office@gssla.com.pk or +92 21 3729 7209.
What the app is
GSSLA Portal is the firm's private case portal. It is used by the firm's lawyers and staff, and by clients to whom the firm has issued portal access. There is no public sign-up: every account is created by the firm. The app shows each person only what their role allows; a client sees only their own matters.
Information we hold
- Account details: name, email address, telephone number and role, used to sign you in and to show your work.
- Matter information: case details, hearing dates, orders, tasks, documents, invoices and messages entered by the firm or by you. This is held because the firm acts for its clients; it is protected by the firm's duty of confidentiality and legal professional privilege.
- Documents and photographs you choose to add: pages you scan with the camera and files you share into the app are uploaded only when you choose to file them on a matter.
- Notification address: if you allow notifications, Apple gives the app a device token, which we store with your account and the app version so that we can send you notices about your work. It is deleted when you sign out on that device.
- Records of activity: who added or changed a record and when, as part of the firm's case records.
What stays on your device
- Face ID or passcode lock: handled entirely by your iPhone or iPad. The app is only told whether the check succeeded; we never receive biometric data.
- Calendar and reminders: if you turn them on, your hearings and due dates are written into a "GSSLA Portal" calendar and local reminders on your device. They are not read back from your calendar.
- The app does not read your contacts, location, photo library or other apps' data. The camera is used only when you choose to scan a document.
We do not sell personal information, show advertising, or track you across other companies' apps or websites. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the portal, each acting on our instructions:
- Supabase: database, document storage and secure sign-in.
- Hostinger: hosting of the website and the firm's email.
- Apple Push Notification service: delivery of notifications to your device.
- Anthropic: when a member of the firm uses the portal's assisted-review features (for example, reading an order or summarising a document), the relevant text is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's commercial terms do not permit it to train its models on this content.
- Meta (WhatsApp Business): only for members of the firm who use the firm's WhatsApp channel.
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Access within the firm is limited by role.
How long we keep it
Matter information is kept for as long as the firm needs it for the matter and afterwards for as long as the law and professional rules require the firm to keep client files. Notification tokens are deleted on sign-out or when Apple reports them as no longer valid.
Your choices and rights
- You can turn notifications, the Face ID lock, Calendar and reminders on or off at any time in the app's settings or in your device's Settings.
- You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to close your account, by writing to office@gssla.com.pk. We close accounts within 30 days. Records the firm must keep for a client matter are retained as described above.
Children
GSSLA Portal is for the firm's clients and staff and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
